Inspiration is a tough thing to come by and develop in oneself as trust in another. Expertise is also a rarity that hardly presents itself. To find someone of inspiration and expertise is really tough. However, for me, I have been inspired by Ben Cherington for my career goals. He has been a real benefactor to me in my decision to enter into the field of sport management.
In essence, Ben Cherington is a highly recognized Major League Baseball Executive. He was born in Meridan, New Hampshire on the 14th of July, 1974. He went to school as a baseball player. He went to Amherst College for an undergrad in history, and then he transferred to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for a master's degree in sport management. Ben first worked with the Boston Red Sox. There, he was hired as a baseball coordinator of international scouting, then operations assistant, then assistant director, and then as general manager and executive Vice President. After his stint with the Red Sox, Cherington was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays as the vice-president of baseball operations, and remains in that position currently. Overall, Cherington has won one World Series, with the Boston Red Sox in 2013.
To me, I find Ben Cherington inspiring and an expert based on the path he took to his job and the quality of work he has done. I love how Cherington came from the New England area like me and went to UMass Amherst like me in sport management like me. Cherington is also in my dream career role, as a general manger and vice-president of a professional sports team. Some, Cherington achieving my dream and us both having great qualities makes me believe that if he can do it, so can I. Also, based on how Ben Cherington has won a World Series and brought it to a failing Red Sox team shows how good Cherington is with all these skills around. Overall, with Ben Cherington having similar roots he me and making it big in life in the career I dream to have, it makes me feel Ben is an inspiration and an expert in his field.
